Mackay Waterfront PDA – Masterplan has been endorsed!

By Tammy Laval

The Mackay Waterfront project has reached a major milestone!

Mackay Regional Council announced on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 that the project had passed endorsement with the Council passing the backing the Mackay Waterfront Master Plan.  This document is the guide for the development of the Mackay Waterfront, and another important step in bringing this pivotal project to fruition.

The master plan has been developed in conjunction with community and industry feedback and will assist the council and guide the development of the Mackay Waterfront.

The Mackay Waterfront Master Plan highlights a number of public realm and investment opportunities across the five PDA precincts to:

  • improve the city’s and region’s liveability
  • create jobs, diversify the economy and increase business and prosperity
  • boost and support investment confidence across the region
  • contribute to the region’s character, identity and community connections
  • complement and support the region’s places, facilities, attractions, features, offerings and activities.

The Mackay Waterfront Master Plan is supported by site-wide and precinct-level strategies for infrastructure and public realm delivery to guide future public and private development.

We thank the community for their continued interest in the project.
