1000+ visitors in a matter of weeks!

By Tammy Laval

Mackay’s newest tourism information center in Sarina is on proving ‘dollars well spent’ since opening in early July, surprising its many volunteers on the volume of visitors coming through it’s doors.

Connected to the Sarina Field of Dreams, the information center has expanded from it’s Nebo Road location, to capture and cater to the tourist ‘drive-through’ market, as families and grey nomads travel along the east cost highways.

The Mackay visitor center had on average 640 visitors per month in 2018, and a total of 1200 visitors in the month of Maywhereasas the Sarina location has already secured bookings worth $8000 approximately in under two weeks.

Residents and business alike, too have also noticed an increase in foot traffic since the center opened.  With businesses quoting increase in sales and therefore doubling their orders as a direct result.  Many citing that better infrastructure has resulted in more people stopping in Sarina to visit the centre.
